Creamy Potato Soup

Ingredients
  • 12 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • Milk
  • 1 Large onion, diced
  • 1 can cream of chicken
  • 1 can cream of celery
  • 1/4 Velveeta cheese block
  • Chicken base (paste) I don't measure but use A LOT

Directions

Boil 6 potatoes till they are done, put in large pot. Boil the other 6 potatoes and onions until they are a little over done and really soft. When you boil the potatoes, add only enough water that will cover them and cook the second batch of potatoes with the chicken base mixed in the water. Add all ingredients to the large pot and then add enough milk to get the consistency you would like.

If you have ever had Cracker Barrel's potato soup, you will love this!

Why do so many people just write "Milk" or whatever ingredient & not specify an amount for us "dummies"? This sounds like a recipe that my mom made 20 yrs. ago, but she's gone now & I don't have her recipe. I have tried so many different cookbooks & none have measured up to my Mom's.
Thanks in advance--
