I have a new wooden porch swing and I'd like to make my own cushion for it. I sew but I don't know what fabric would hold up in the outdoor weather. It's underneath my porch, but I'm afraid the moisture might ruin it. I need some ideas.
I have often thought that terry cloth would work real well, plus being extremely washable. I would see if I could find beach towels in a size that would work, they are colorful, plus washable. Then use a quilt batt for the stuffing, you would join them together just like when making a quilt.

I have used the plastic table clothes. You can find them at any discount stores.

Spray them with scotch guard to help repel any water that gets on them.

It should be that any of your local fabric stores will carry indoor/outdoor upholstry fabric designed nicely for outdoor uses. Alternatively, any heavy cotton based fabric should be good, such as cotton duck or denim. During winter months I would advise not leaving your cushions outside, or at the very least, use furniture covers over all your outside patio ware.
