Picture on Your Debit Card |
|
|
Our bank recently began offering a debit/ATM card with a photo of the carrier on the card. It helps a great deal to fight against identity theft, which has become a real problem. Also, they provide $10,000 insurance along with the card and this was no cost to us at all. Might be worth checking with your bank to find out if something like this is available.

I've also heard that you can write in permant marker on the back : "MUST SHOW PICTURE ID".
If nothing else maybe it would make the thief move on to someone elses card.
It happened to me
I can't stress how important it is that you know your bank's policy on identity theft. My card had my picture on it, however the theives used it to purchase $5000+ worth of items via internet in approximately 2 hours time while I was sleeping. It took two months to settle everything and we nearly lost our entire savings because of it. If we hadn't been military and had spotless credit the bank would have ignored us. They said so flat out. PLEASE don't think it only happens to other people. We ARE the other people. Don't let someone steal everything you've fought to save. Good luck.
