Fall Foliage Friends
Fall Foliage Friends
Use your imagination and some paper, glue, and a marker to turn ordinary backyard leaves into whimsical note cards.

Approximate Time: About 1 hour

Supplies:

  • autumn leaves
  • paper
  • glue
  • markers, pens and crayons

Instructions:

Collect various leaves from your yard and/or trees. Artificial leaves work well too. When you've found leaves in your yard whose shapes you like, glue them to pieces of paper and use pencil, pen or crayon to make your creatures complete. To preserve your creations, press them between two books.

I love that you can use artificial (silk) leaves for this project. That way, you can make and package them to give as gifts without worrying about the leaves drying out and crumbling--great birthday, Christmas, or just "thinking about you presents." You can also make lots of them at one time to use throughout the year. Does anyone know of a good way to preserve real leaves so they won't dry out and crumble? I heard that you can use glycerine, but have never done it.
