Any one have information on using shredded flake board for mulch? I know that flake board has urea formaldehyde based glue but I haven't found any information concerning the toxicity. I know it isn't pressure treated so there is no CCA preservative. Thanks.

Non-toxic mulch materials are so abundant and cheep, why would you want the formaldehyde? It would kill all the life in your soil. A very active carcinogen, too.

If you ever plan to put edible food plants in the same area, DON'T.

Formaldehyde is a chemical preservative, so it's safe to assume it to be toxic. Do you want it leaching into your ground (drinking) water?
