Keeping Algae Out of a Fountain With Fish In It

I have a small fountain with gold fish, I put a filter in it thinking it would keep the clear slime off the sides but after I cleaned the fountain it came back. Does anyone know what I can do oe use to stop it? The fountain is in full shade.
