Here is a comprehensive list of many legitimate, free, paying survey sites. I personally use all of these and get paid! By paying - I mean cash, paypal, gift certificates and prizes. NOT sweepstakes and entries into drawings. I feel like those are a waste of time since your chances of winning are so small that you are basically doing surveys for free.
I use swagbucks and MyPoints for bonus money. You can get gift cards for amazon.com from swagbucks, and they sell everything. MyPoints has giftcards for tons of place, including Walmart, so very useful. I also mystery shop, and most of the work is from home. Google "MSPA". That will help you find which companies have jobs in your area.
I'm not sure either other than just keep doing research and never, ever pay for a position. Always remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. My daughter does medical transcription on line, works a lot of hours and gets paid quite well. However, you must be trained in medical terminology.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to legitimately make money on the internet? I am needing to make some extra income and am interested in finding out about some legitimate web sites to work with and for. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time.

Robyn,
I don't know of any ways to earn a reasonable amount of money online, and as I am in Australia, I probably won't be able to research anything that would be of use to you. However, on seeing your name pop up, I wanted to say how much I love your recipes. Perhaps you could think along lines of a website that offered E-recipes for a small fee. Thank you for the many, many contributions you make to this site.
Kindest regards.

Do you listen to Clark Howard? Any topic consumer oriented is his forte. People are constantly calling him for info on work at home ideas. Here is the link to his page for the only legitimate work at home ideas he has found. http://clarkhoward.com/topics/workathome_help.html

Does anyone know a legitimate place I can earn money at home online without paying a fee. I don't want to own my own business just to make some extra money.

I get $5 from PineCone for filling out one 15 min survey and I get 2 or so a month. They are great! If you want to sign up for pinecone check the following sites daily: http://volition.com/ (there is one today at the top) or http://www.amylynn.org/home/pinecone.
I am in search of legit ways to earn money or gifts on the internet. I know that some people were talking about online surveys. Which companies are legit? What else is out there?

Have you given any thought to selling on EBay. You may wish to check that out. It is always good for some extra money. You will need a camera to take photos of merchandise before listing it. Good Luck! (06/11/2006)
bzzagent.com, mysurvey.com, lightspeedpanel.com, your2cents com these are the sites i frequent. It is not quick but I am racking up some points for stuff to get in exchange. (06/12/2006)

Zoom Panel Surveys. They don't pay in dollars, but you can get lots of free stuff. You may also wish to join Home Testing Institute and Consumer Mail Panel. Both pay you (small amounts) to test products (you get to keep) and take surveys. I've been doing all three for years and am quite pleased. (06/12/2006)
Honestly, most survey companies are legit and you can make money but not very much. I have personally made a few dollars with these but not anything significant. I would have to say that starting your own business and running it online or selling on ebay is much more profitable.(06/12/2006)

Check pineconeresearch.com from time to time. They only have certain periods when you can sign up but they pay $5 for most surveys. I get one about every 2 weeks.
Another website I like is mypoints.com. You get points for clicking on links in emails. Also, you can "click through" their site to online merchants and earn points when you make purchases. Ebay is one site you can earn points for. You can redeem the points for gift cards. They just started offering WalMart giftcards, which to me is as good as cash since I get all my groceries there. A $10 gift card is 1500 points, or 300 emails, or about 60 days of clicking on emails if you get about 5 emails a day.
You can't expect to make a living doing these kinds of things, but every little bit helps. And it's always fund to get a treat for free. I usually get Barnes and Noble giftcards from mypoints because they accept them at the cafe. Then my husband and I can go on a free date for dessert and coffee. A $25 giftcard is 3250 points and it's enough for about 3 dates.
I'm glad other people who posted feedback reminded me of some other sources of goodies. I'd been letting a lot of things slide into my junkmail folder but now I'm inspired to try them again! (06/13/2006)
