Mystery Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups fruit cocktail and juice
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts)

Directions

Sift together sugar, flour, salt and soda. Beat egg and add vanilla, fruit cocktail and juice. Turn into greased dish - do not have it too thick. Over the top sprinkle a mixture of brown sugar and chopped nuts. Bake 3/4 hour at 325 degrees F. Serve with whipped cream and top with cherries.

You can serve it with ice cream also. You can reheat it also. Will keep in fridge.

I tried this recipe and did not have any luck. The dessert was very moist and gooey on the bottom, but the sides were getting too done. The recipe needs to specify a pan size. I think I used 8x8 size pan. I also baked it for an hour. I would not use this paticular recipe again.
