I work 40 hours a week, I have a husband and a baby. My husband works 12 hour shifts at night he leaves for work before I get home. I have been leaving his meals in the crockpot, but I am running out of recipes. Could someone help?

Thanks,

Shannon in NC

Cantonese Dinner from very old CROCK-POT Cookbook (p.18)
1 1/2 lbs pork steak, 1/2-inch thick, cut into strips
2 T. oil
1 large onion, sliced
1 small green pepper, cut into strips
1 4-oz. can mushrooms, drained
3/4 C evaporated milk
8-oz. can tomato sauce
3 T. brown sugar
1 1/2 T. vinegar
1 1/2 t. salt
2 t. Worcestershire sauce
Brown pork strips in oil in skillet to remove excess fat. Drain on double paper towel. Place pork strips and all remaining ingredients into CROCK-POT. Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours. (High: 4 hours.) Serve over hot fluffy rice.

Looking for an old Rival Crock Pot recipe for slow cooking full sized wieners with out any sauce. Then you add the hot dog buns just a few minutes before the wieners are done.
Thanks for any help.

Try pork roast with potatoes and carrots. I put them on in the crock pot at 8 or 9 in morning and it's done around 5 or 6 (on low or using auto shift). place baby carrots in bottom, then add cut up potatoes (peeled or not). Add salt and pepper in between layers and add roast on top. Season with any seasoning or marinade you like. If you use a big enough roast, you can save the drippings and enough meat to make BBQ the next day. Just shred meat and add onion and BBQ sauce and cook on low the following day for 4 to 6 hours on low and you have two meals in one.

You can also cook chicken in the crockpot. I put skinned breasts (w/ or w/o bones) in the crockpot pour a bottle of marinade over them, then fill up the bottle with water, shake a couple of times, and add water to pot. Lawry's makes a few good ones - in the condiment section at the grocery store. Cook on low for about 8 hours. If you happen to have the handy "auto shift" function where it is on high 2 hours, then shifts to low, then it only takes 5-6.

My favorite thing to slow cook is an inexpensive tip roast cooked with onion soup mix in it. When it's done, make mashed potatoes and a packaged brown gravy mix. Tear up the meat and put mashed potatoes on a slice of bread then top with meat and brown gravy. Makes a great supper.

This is one that my family likes...

A piece of meat on sale that week
A jar of your favorite pasta sauce

Salt & Pepper the meat and place it in the slow cooker and cover with the pasta sauce. Let it cook all day on low. The meat is very tender at the end of the day. You can use the sauce as is, but sometimes I use a stick blender to make it smooth. Slice the meat and serve it with pasta (using the sauce from the slow cooker) and a salad.

I'm looking for a recipe that was in an old recipe booklet that came with my Rival Crockpot many years ago. The recipe was called Cantonese Dinner and used Porksteaks. Anyone out there have it?

This is a simple easy beef roast just take a chuck roast, a package of lipton onion soup mix (dry) a large can of mushroom soup and a can of soda, (pepsi or coke) and put all in a crockpot. Add potatoes and onions and carrots and cook on low all day while gone. In the evening when you get home you have the complete meal including mushroom gravy ready to eat!

I know your looking for recipes but no one knows what kind of food your family likes. Go to the library and get books out, theres books for just on crockpots. Also theres web-clubs that will sent them to your email mailbox.

Easiest Beef Roast

Put the cheapest cut of roast beef you can find in the crockpot. (I have even stuck it in frozen
if I have a couple extra hours.) Add one packet beefy onion soup mix and one can cream of mushroom or celery soup. Let it cook till the meat is tender, about 6-8 hours on low. It makes a great gravy on its own. You can add carrots and potatoes right to the pot or make instant potatoes.

This recipe is from the Best Of Bridge Cookbook. I make this soup all the time and I am always asked for the recipe. I have even gone to a Church Luncheon where they serve this soup every luncheon and will not give this recipe out.
It is simply one of the best.

Hamburger Soup

Don't be deceived by the name - this is a family favorite and is great
for entertaining. This recipe makes 18 soup ladles and it freezes very
well.

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 medium onion chopped fine
1 28oz can of tomatoes
2 cups water
3 cans consomme
1 can tomato soup
4 carrots chopped fine
1 bay leaf
3 sticks celery chopped fine
parsley to taste
1/2 tsp thyme
pepper to taste
8 Tbsp. barley

Brown meat and onions. Drain well. Combine all ingredients in a large
pot. Simmer covered at least 2 hours, or all day. Serves 10

Brown ground beef, place all other ingredients in the crockpot with the vegetables first.
Put on high for 4 -5 hours or low for 7 - 9 hours.
I sometimes use stewing beef instead of hamburger and it tastes delicious also.
Enjoy

Just do a google search for crockpot recipes...
there are many sites, forums and newsgroups out there that are dedicated to slow cooking recipes. I have a mass collection of them!
As well, I've heard that the Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook is wonderful. You can probably find it at a local bookstore or at:

Here is a good recipe for Crockpot Roast
I know the ingredients sound weird, but when it is done, it will be the BEST roast you have ever had.

1 beef roast, cheapest cut of meat works best
1 packet dry italian dressing mix
1 packet dry ranch dressing mix
1 packet dry brown gravy mix
1 1/2 cups of water.

Whisk mixes in the water, put roast in the crockpot, pour dressing and water mixture over it. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.
You can put your potatoes, onions, carrots in at the same time. This roast is also good made like this, then shredded and put on hoagie rolls with grilled onions and mozzarella cheese.............Yummy stuff!!! Hope you enjoy it!!!

This recipe is quick and delicious. I just open 2 cans of Cream of Chicken, (or whatever flavor your family likes) and pour it over 4 bonneless, skinless chicken breasts. Set the temp to low and when you get home, all you have to do is make rice or pasta to go with it. My family loves this. You can use any soup and any meat, tri-tip and beef stew, pork chops and applesauce...(one of my favorites). Good luck!

My favorite crockpot recipe is very easy. It is based on a recipe my mother used to make in the pressure cooker when I was a child.

I use a chuck roast or whatever is on sale at a low price. You can use either beef or pork. You could also use round steak, which is what my mother used to use, though I have not tried it.

You do not have to brown the meat, but you can if you want to. I do not as the dish tastes wonderful and it saves time.

Scrub 4 to 6 potatoes (any variety), halve them and place them in bottom of crockpot.

Add a 16 oz. bag of baby carrots, or cut carrots in approx. 3 inch long chunks.

Place meat on top of carrots and potatoes.

Season meat with your favorite seasoning. I use McCormick Grill Mates Spicy Montreal Steak Seasoning. I have also used Mrs. Dash Table Blend plus garlic flakes which is good also. Slice an onion and cover the meat with this. It is okay if some of the onion goes down into the vegetables.

Pour a can of cream of mushroom soup on top of the meat and spread it around a little bit so that it can soak into the meat as it cooks. If you like, you may add some sliced mushrooms.

This makes an excellent base for a vegetable soup the next day. Cut the leftover meat and vegetables into bite sized pieces. Add a bottle of V-8 juice to the gravy. A jar of salsa is good added to this. Throw in any leftovers you have from earlier in the week. Add any addition vegetables you would like, pasta, etc.
