This sounds wonderful. My version of this recipe is :

Dump Cake.
1 can cherry pie filling
1 can crushed pineapple (with juice)
1 box cake mix white or yellow
big handfull of quick oatmeal
big handfull of flaked coconut
one stick of butter sliced thinly.. (or can be dropped on)
non stick spray (pam)

spray 9x12 baking pan
dump in cherry pie filling-spread around
dump in crushed pineapple mix w/pie filling
evenly sprinkle cake mix over this
put butter slices over this or drop butter evenly
spread oat meal over this
spread flaked coconut over this
bake on 350 degrees for 30-40 min or till hot and bubbly - may
be cooked till browed if desired.. my family likes it brown and crunchy. This is nice sweet crunchy treat. Really nice w/ice cream.

I have cooked this as long as an hour it gets so nice brown and crunchy.

Thanks for the recipe! Sounds a lot like something I used to make called dump cake. But I think this recipe may be more economical, and I like the fact that it has oatmeal in it.
