Cream soups, like cream of mushrooms, make easy sauces for vegetables, sauces and casserole filling. Stock up on cream soups when they are sale, they are a great time saving staple to have in your pantry.

TASTES GREAT, but watch OUT for the MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) because it has been used UNNECESSARILY for years and has caused a great number of BRAIN cancer deaths!! Better to make your own from vegetable and meat juices thickened with a little flour/milk, well mixed before adding.

Each soup can be a nice surprise. I keep canned meats on hand to add, holding back a few veggies from each meal for the soup Du Jour and often can be guilty of adding one Bay leaf, onion powder, Bouquet Garni, or my fresh "wild herbs" from the garden. Each new combination can be improved upon, but is seldom very disappointing. They will either be tomato based, cream based, plain natural juices and herbs, or mixed.

It's time the soup mfg. companies were BUSTED and forced to clean up or shut down, even if their product is free. Human life is both precious and fragile and it is totally irresponsible of them to ignore the facts that have been around for 20 years and no one can convince me that they haven't known about it all! Yes, I know there have been improvements, new labeling, glass jars, sales, and all sorts of enticements, but too often the MSG is STILL THERE, as if manufactured in some third world nation with less information, supervision, guidelines, and concern for their people.

Adding the canned soups to enhance meals is a fair practice if they have no MSG! It certainly simplifies cooking yet complicates LIVING and doesn't have to be this way! Let's hold them to a higher standard AND the same sale prices! They OWE us that!

Great advice. Another tip I'd like to mention is don't think you have to buy only the "name brand" of creamed soup....especially if it's going into a recipe. I have bought cream of chicken, mushroom, etc at Wal-Mart and Aldi's and they have worked just fine in cooking....saves money too! Creamed soups have gotten quite expensive!
