I found a silver fruit plater at a carboot. I know that pure silver is marked 925 but can any one tell me what S431 means. I am nearly one hundred percent sure it is silver but I am not sure how pure.

I tried googling several different discriptions and this what I came up with for S431 Silver Platter.....it looks like it might be a French Hallmark on your Silver Platter

Pure silver is not marked with 925, that would be sterling silver.

S431 could be a production number, item number, maker number etc.
