I was curious to know if The Olive Garden had a specific manufacturer that bottled their Italian salad dressing. Well, surprise! McCormick's makes their salad dressing. There you go!
I had no idea so many people used this recipe and loved it as much as I do! Thanks for all the wonderful folks who took the time to make sure we could get this great salad back on our tables again!
Has anyone found out WHY this was discontinued? This was my absolute favorite too!
Oh my, another who has searched for this wonderful blend!!! Me, too! I have saved a package, however, the ingredients are vague, little help. The ingredients listed are: salt, sugar, garlic, black pepper and other spices, red and green bell peppers, onion, and xanihan gum, in this order. The "other spices" doesn't help us much, does it? Here is a telephone number, listed on the back of the package, you can call: 1-800-632-5847. Good luck!
I am with you 100 percent Joyce! I have been looking for it for over a year. If you have any luck with a clone, I'd love to hear it!
Thanks to all who sent recipe. My husband just asked me," How come you never make that really good padta salad anymore?" Now I can !
I am so bummed about McCormick discontinuing this pasta salad mix. I know a a lot of people who have been looking for it.
Glad to know we can get something close.
Heather
I saved a packet when I was having a hard time finding it. Ingredients are: Salt, Sugar, Black Pepper, Garlic, Red and Green Bell Peppers, Onion and "other spices". I tried Oregano, Parsley and Mint...and it's great!
I have been looking in 3 states for this Pasta Salad packet as my daughters will not eat any other kind of Pasta salad. I've even asked our grocery stores to order it, no wonder I don't see it on the shelves any longer. Thanks for update on it not being produced any longer.
I have discovered a dressing that tastes very much like the McCormick. Actually, 2 of them. One of them is from Hooters, their Balsamic Vinaigrette and Olive Oil dressing that comes with the Grilled Chicken Pasta Salad. The other is Kraft Balsamic Vinaigrette bottled dressing. Not exactly, but the closest I have come to finding that taste.
This is what the little packet looked like:

Grrrr.... I am so mad at McCormick for discontinuing my FAVORITE Vinaigrette Dressing Blend!
Whenever I made my pasta salad, it was always a hit at every party. Everybody kept asking me for the "secret" ingredient and when I finally decided to share it with my ex mother-in-law (a great lady), she was unable to find it at any grocery store. The family probably thought I lied or gave them incorrect information. How unfortunate!
Thank God I finally found a comparable substitute recipe on McCormick.com but they certainly didn't make things easy for those of us who LOVED this little seasoning packet, did they?
McCormick's Pasta Salad Vinaigrette recipe:
1 tsp McCormick Italian Seasoning
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp McCormick Onion Powder
1/4 tsp McCormick Basil leaves
1/4 tsp McCormick Dill Weed
1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1 1/2 tsp McCormick Seasoned pepper Blend
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 1/2 tsp salt
8 ounces rotini or other pasta & 2 cups raw vegetables.
This is SUCH a bummer. I had used the product off & on for years, summer time staple! Has anyone tried the recipe given by Grace and/or Michelle? If so was it anything close to the packet we all use to buy that was SOOOO great!!! I need to make my famous pasta salad for daughters babyshower on 8/12/06.
Hi Joyce -
Sorry to hear about this! I also LOVE this mix, and just used my last one. I went searching for more, only to find also that there was none in the store. I just stole my mom's last one. I don't know what we're going to do! This is totally a summer staple!
Anyway, this is their list of ingredients, which you'll see isn't very helpful:
Salt, sugar, garlic, black pepper and other spices, red and green bell peppers, onion and xanthan gum.
So, if you find it in any store or figure out a similar recipe, I'd love to hear from you! Thanks.
8 ounces rotini or other pasta
1/4 cup vegetable or olive oil
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons McCormick® Seasoned Pepper Blend
1 1/2 teaspoons McCormick® Garlic Powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon McCormick® Italian Seasoning
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Onion Powder
1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Basil Leaves
1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Dill Weed
2 cups chopped raw vegetables, such as bell pepper, tomatoes, onion, celery, cucumber, carrots, zucchini or broccoli
How about the Mediterranean Pasta Salad Blend??? any recipes for that?
I have one last packet of McCormick's Pasta Salad Vinaigrette. The ingredients are listed as: salt, sugar, garlic, black pepper and other spices, red and green bell peppers, onion, & xanthan gum. As you may recall, you blend this mixture with 1/2 C vegetable oil and 1/4 C white vinegar.
Hope this helps you!
I too missed the nice seasoning packet. The McCormick web site has the recipe. The seasoning ingredients are:
1 tsp McCormick Italian Seasoning
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp McCormick Onion Powder
1/4 tsp McCormick Basil leaves
1/4 tsp McCormick Dill Weed
1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1 1/2 tsp McCormick Seasoned pepper Blend
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 1/2 tsp salt
mix with 8 oz cooked pasta & 2 cups raw vegetables. Sounds Familiar!?
I JUST USED MY LAST PACKAGE AND I AM SO SAD THAT I CAN NOT FIND THIS PRODUCT. THE INGRDIENTS ARE:
SALT, SUGAR, GARLIC, BLACK PEPPER AND OTHER SPICES, RED AND GREEN BELL PEPPERS, ONION AND XANTHAN GUM.
MIX WITH 1/4 C OLIVE OIL, 1/4 C WHITE VINEGAR, 8 OZ ROTINI AND 2 C RAW VEGETABLES
Please continue to sell McCormick, Pasta Salad Vinaigrette. It is a very good product and don't understand the why you all will (or have) stop selling it.
I, too, have been desperate to find this dressing! I still have not found a good replacement. Maybe if we all bombard McCormick with requests they will revive it.
I e-mailed McCormick, and they sent me the link for the recipe for the pasta vinaigrette. http://www.mccormick.com/recipedetail.cfm?id=11988
I just found in my seasoning tub ( I have 30 season mixes) Pasta Prima Pasta salad vinaigrette dressing blend. It is my last one its got to be 10yrs old. Its unopened. It says schilling on it and picture is much prettier then whats on mccmorick site. Its to old to use but Iam hanging onto it. How did they get the sweet bell pepper in this package??? I looked on the Mc site I was so excited to see they still made it. I could not find at the store. I was trying to find it on web to show husband an stumbled on your site an saw its discontinued. Now I dont know what to do.
Joyce, if you find a comparable subsitute, let me know! I just found this product and am conserving my only packet like a squirrel in winter.
I emailed them and they did stop even though it's on their website. I even went to copykat.com to find a recipe and couldn't. Joyce if you find a way to duplicate it, please let me know. I've been hitting about 2-3 stores a day to find some on their shelves to take them.
Jenna: Thanks so much ! That is just what I need! I have an empty pack with salad directions ,I just needed to have a list of ingredients to try to duplicate the mix.( that was the part I tore off and threw away) I am so grateful to you for taking the time to get this to me! :) :) Joyce
I raided my mom's kitchen and found one package of the McCormick pasta salad mix............these were the ingredients (but they didn't give the amount of each ingredient): salt, sugar, garlic, black pepper and other spices, red and green bell peppers, onion, and xanthan gum. I'm not sure if this is what you wanted. I have the directions to make the pasta salad too if you need that.
An outstanding vinaigrette that I'd like to recommend if you don't have any success with the McCormick Company is the house salad dressing from Olive Garden Restaurant. Approx. $4 per bottle and worth every cent. We usually have a bottle of it in the fridge with warnings from my daughter who says the bottle is getting low and I need to pick up another one.
Well, if McCormick has quit making the Pasta Salad Vinaigrette Dressing Blend, they're still using it on their internet site http://www.mccormick.com/recipedetail.cfm?ID=738&CMP=KNC-ITF1103 If you click on "help" in the upper right corner of the site page, you will find how to contact them about products...both through e-mail or an 800 phone number. I hope you find your product as I was unable to find a copycat recipe..sorry.
