Ranch Dressing Mix I

Everyone loves the powdered ranch dressing mix. Well, I have the recipe! I was lucky enough to have all the ingredients on hand. I actually like it a little better than the store bought.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp. dried parsley flakes
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. MSG. (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. onion powder
  • pinch dried thyme

Mix dried ingredients together in small bowl.

To Prepare

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • Ranch Dressing Mix

Directions

Whisk mayonnaise and buttermilk together. Add Ranch Dressing Mix. Mix together. Refrigerate. Mmmmmmm!

hi dragon sue. i live in malta and have the same problem trying to decipher different US terms to British. i have a feeling saltine crackers are CREAM CRACKERS.and MSG is in the herb and spice section of the supermarket. in malta, we call it monosodium glutamate.just for your info in the future, graham crackers are our digestive biscuits. and of course american cookies are OUR biscuits. american BISCUITS are our scones. hope this helps.

AND I have read a lot of recipes that recommend Ranch dressing, so I'd really like to thank Cookiesmom for posting this! Again, living in the UK, we just don't have this here!

I'm from the UK and sometimes I hit an ingredient in a recipe I just don't have a clue what it is, and that has happened here, what is MSG?
Also if anyone knows an alternative for saltine crackers, I'd be grateful! :-) Just don't get them here.

Here is my recipe for ranch salad dressing; Mix together thoroughly 1 cup mayonaise,1 cup buttermilk, 2 tsp. instant minced onion, 1/4 tsp. garlic powder, 1 Tbs. dried parsley flakes and 1/2 tsp. salt. Chill.( may add 1/8 tsp dill weed OR 1/2 tsp. mustard seed for a change of flavor)
For Dip: substitute 1 cup sour cream for buttermilk.
enjoy! Judy

Thanks cookiemom....so in other words, could take dry mix part and just add to a small container of sour cream? I should try that. I think the kids would like it for dipping veggies.
