This recipe comes from my mother's recipe box and is very old. She and my father preferred using venison with this recipe, but I prefer the ground beef with bacon.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound bacon, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef or venison
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce {your choice}
  • 2 Tbsp. molasses
  • 2 Tbsp. ground mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 80 oz. canned pork and beans

Directions

Brown bacon, ground beef (or deer meat) and onion together and drain. Mix remaining ingredients. Blend all and bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes up to 2 hours, covered. The longer this is baked, the better it is.
