I have 5 one inch letters on a 100% cotton blue shirt made with a Sharpie. I have already washed it and the Sharpie letters are still there. It was done with a black Sharpie. How do I take the letters out?

Try lots of alcohol or hairspray. It may come out a bit at a time so several tries may be needed. Another product would be GoJo or waterless hand cleaner.

I have Sharpie stains on my clothes. How do I remove them? I have tried all kinds of stain removers. The stain is on a new night gown. Thanks for the help in advance.

RE: Removing Sharpie From Clothing

From past posts it looks like your answer is GooGone or hair spray. (05/14/2009)

Try using nail polish remover. I use it to get ink off of many items at work. (05/21/2009)

My sister was a nurse and would get ballpoint and Sharpie ink on her white uniform. She always sprayed hairspray on the spots and then washed. You could never see any spots when she dried them. She also would not dry them if all of the spot didn't come out. She would spray again and wash and it always came out. Hope this helps. (05/21/2009)

Hi, I had Sharpie on the back of my jacket and I used Goof Gone. It got every bit of the sharpie off my jacket. Just read the directions first, hopefully this will help! (01/26/2009)

Try cheap hairspray. I have used it on permanent stuff on clothes, walls, and varnished furniture. (07/30/2005)

Just tried hairspray on a sharpie stain on my shirt and it definitely lightened the stain a whole lot! It isn't completely gone though...(04/15/2006)
