Mom's Oatmeal Cake
Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 t salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 cup cold water
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1 cup oatmeal
Frosting:
1 stick butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
3 Tbsp. milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts meats
1/2 cup shredded coconut
Directions
Cake:
Beat all ingredients together and pour into an ungreased 9x13 pan or baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes.
Frosting:
Boil butter, sugar, and milk together for about 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat and add nuts and coconut. Spread on cake while both are still warm.

This brings back wonderful memories of my mother's oatmeal cakes that she used to make for us when we were children in the 1950's. Our father used to call them her "oatmeal goodies". Thanks for stirring these good memories.
