Stir together flour, sugar and soda; add remaining ingredients. Blend well but do not beat. Turn into a greased and floured 9x13 pan; bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes. (Make topping while cake bakes, and frost while cake is warm.)
For Topping: Blend cheese, margarine, vanilla and sugar thoroughly.

Bake cake mix as package instructs in a large sheet pan, 15x19 inches. Mix pudding with milk and cream cheese and spread on top of cooled cake. Strain pineapple and spread over pudding. Spread Cool Whip on top of the pineapple and cover with coconut. Cool 4 hours in refrigerator.

Thank you so much for posting this recipe. When I was a teenager, my best friend's mom used to make this cake all the time and I absolutely LOVED it! I'm anxious to make it for my family. Bright Blessings Sonja (04/29/2008)
Mix cake ingredients together. Do not drain pineapple! Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes.
For Icing: Soften cream cheese and butter at room temp to make mixing easier. Mix both these ingredients together first. Then add vanilla and powdered sugar. Mix until creamy
