I don't think grasshoppers chirp. Crickets chirp mostly at night, but I've heard them in the daytime, especially on very overcast ("dark") days. The one under my bedroom window seems to chirp whenever the mood strikes him, though I never heard him when it was sunny. Lol. --sarsi
