Freezing Dates?

Can you freeze dates? If so, do you pit them first?

Dates are dried fruits. They will keep a long time unfrozen but they might be subject to some sort of infestation. So freezing could be a good idea. Pitting them first might be a good idea but not necessary.
Actually, any fruit can be frozen, as is. I would lay the dates out on a cookie sheet and freeze and when frozen put them into a freezer container and back into the freezer so they can be unpacked individually.

Only if you find out they are married, and then you have to slice them really thin. Sorry, really!
