This is a rich tasting southern dessert which my older sister made when I was a little kid. She was in high school when I was born and we had a very special relationship. I'm getting older now and want to share her recipe. Her name was Virginia but I gave her the name Ninny when I was learning to talk. I called it:
"Ninny's Nigh Unto World Famous Pecan Pie"
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- dash of salt
- 3/4 cup dark Karo syrup
- 3 eggs well beaten
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- unbaked pie shell
Directions:
Cream butter and brown sugar.
Stir in salt, Karo, eggs and vanilla extract
Pour into pie shell. Bake at 450 degrees F. for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F and bake for 30 - 35 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean
