Grandma H's Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups lard
  • 2 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 10 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 yeast cakes

Directions

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water, add a pinch of sugar. Mix lard, water, salt, sugar and eggs. Let cool. Add yeast. Add dry ingredients. Beat well. Dough should not be too dry. Let rise. Put in pan, let rise again.

Punch holes with fingers; top with can milk, cinnamon and brown sugar. After adding milk, and brown sugar, poke holes again then add cinnamon. Bake in 350 degrees F oven until done.
