Storing Small Things in Baskets and Crocks

If you have baskets or crocks displayed on high shelves, you can hide small decorative objects inside them, and no one will ever know. To protect candles and other dust-prone objects, put them in plastic bags before hiding them in the basket or crock.

Please keep posting your tips zballongirl! Thank you for this helpful idea! It reminds us of another great place to keep things out of harm's way but fullly accessible when needed. If you have cats, the catnip can go up there, so there actually is some left for next time, LOL. Same goes for packaged treats for pets. Hey! I can keep my treats up there!

Heck, yes, there are plenty of things that are "underfoot" that you need only occasionally that would be right at home in a basket on a high shelf or over the kitchen cabinets. Use every space you can, and if a basket makes the storage easier or prettier, great!

zballongirl, I liked your idea and understood WHY you were doing it. 'Nuff said!

Jo, the point is to store items that are only used occasionally. For instance, Easter decorations or birthday celebration items. I live in a mobile home with no attic or basement, and therefore must use every available space wisely. No, I don't keep things "just for the sake of it." But I do enjoy changing my decorations once in a while. I'm sorry you did not find the tip useful.

I believe the idea is that you can store items like candles until you want to use them. A lot of items, candle sticks, candles, etc... are only used on special occasions. Meanwhile, baskets look nice, so it's an attractive way to store items until you need them.

But what's the point? Decorative items are for decoration - to be seen and enjoyed. If you can't see them why not just get rid of them instead of keeping them for the sake of it or to collect dust?

Regards

Jo
