Busy Day Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 5 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups flour

Directions

Add shortening to hot water. Set aside to melt shortening. Put all other ingredients into a mixing bowl. Add hot water, shortening mixture. Beat with electric mixer until smooth. pour into greased and floured 8 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes.

This is great.
You could make up a couple of zip lock baggies with the dry ingredients in them and store them in the freezer to make this even quicker.
Just take the baggie out of the freezer when you set out the hot water and shortening.
