RE: Baptism Gift Advice
We tend to give money for a baptism or earrings/cross/frame/ holder. but recently we went to a baptism and gave $140 for two of us and felt like it wasn't enough, since many of our friends gave more.

RE: Baptism Gift Advice
I give money. I recently explored giving a savings bond, thinking my nephew would get double the money I spent on maturity. What I didn't realize, the maturity on an EE bond is 30 YEARS!

RE: Baptism Gift Advice
Taking pictures during the ceremony would be a wonderful gift since the parents will be busy with the ceremony. Maybe even get a disposable Black & white film camera. My son received a nice My first bible , I thought that was a practical yet appropriate gift. If you could find a Noah's ark toy set, that would be cute. My daughter received money and jewelry

RE: Baptism Gift Advice
I think the best gift is cash. Then the parents should take that cash and put it in a savings account for the child and add to it any "extra" cash received for birthdays, Christmas, chores etc. (after giving the child some spending money of course). I did this with my kids and they each have amost $1000.00 which will come in handy when they want to buy their first car or whatever. I usually give about $25.00 if it is a relative.

For any age bring a camera and take the pictures, a gift that will be treasured.
A book of prayers, for a baby get the kind with thick brightly colored pages.
The Lords Prayer, framed, is also very nice.

RE: Baptism Gift Advice
I think a really nice frame for the baptism photograph would be in order. Or even a heart felt letter about the importance of the baptism.

You did not say what faith this baptism was for. My faith does not give gifts for baptism. The baptism itself is a gift from God.
If you were to give a gift to someone of my faith they would be gracious enough to accept if you wanted them to but most would tell you that it wasn't neccessary. For the curious I am a Baptist (Missionary Baptist)

I've done the Savings Bond, but I usually go with a nice keepsake Bible, or a child's cross on a delicate chain.

If you do a lot of computer work, you can buy parchment paper and make a real nice baptism "certificate". You can personalize it more than the official one will be by adding a picture or something special about the child. Then put it in an inexpensive frame, perhaps one with a mat in it.

RE: Baptism Gift Advice
My husband's niece just had her 3rd child and I know we'll be invited to a baptism....or atleast feel the need to bring a gift when we see him. I also would like some ideas. This is her 3rd boy so she has plenty of clothes I would presume. I was thinking along the lines of some sort of keepsake. I also thought a nice picture frame or photo album. I know it sounds cheap, but I'd prefer to purchase something than to give money since I don't want to spend a lot!

RE: Baptism Gift Advice
What I always give for a baptism gift is a bank with $10-15 change in it. I buy a bank at the $1 store, and then put the money in mixed coins and a few dollar bills in it, put in a gift bag with tissue and it is ready.
