Craft Project: Froggy Valentine Card

Kids will love creating their own "froggy" Valentine cards. They will "leap" for joy making these cute cards, which require few supplies and a little time.

Approximate Time: about 30 minutes

Supplies:

  • Light green construction paper
  • Dark green construction paper
  • Black construction paper
  • Red and pink construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Craft glue or double stick tape
  • Black marker
  • 10 inch plate (for pattern)

Instructions:

  1. Using a 10-inch round plate, trace around the plate onto light green and dark green paper creating two large circles. Cut out with scissors.

  2. Glue the two circles together, back to back. Fold down just enough of the large green circle so that the light green half circle shows on top to form the face. (Refer to photo.)

  3. Cut two oblong shapes from dark green paper that are approximately 4 inches long by 1.5 inches wide for eyes. Glue to back of frog's head.

  4. Cut two 1-inch circles from black paper for center of eyes. Glue in place.

  5. Using black marker, draw two small dots for frog's nose.

  6. Cut small hearts from pink and red paper and glue onto face.

  7. Cut medium sized hearts from red and pink paper.

  8. Write messages on hearts using black marker and glue in place, referring to photo for placement.

  9. Lift the frog's mouth and write "Happy Valentine's Day" underneath.

  10. Give to your favorite Valentine.
