16th Birthday Party Ideas?

I'm turning 16 at the end of May and I really wanted a sweet 16, but my parents don't have the money to spend on it and my mom thinks it's a bit silly. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a 16th birthday party for a girl. I would really like if everyone was able to dress up nicely, but not have to rent out a venue or something like that. Any suggestions will do! Thanks.
