Add More Water To Brown Rice

I use my rice cooker for brown rice all the time. I get a 10 pound bag of organic short grain from Costco. I have found that it is better if I add 1/2 a cup more than what the rice cooker instruction book says for "brown" rice. Otherwise it will be a little dry. I think you could even use 3/4 cup more water. It is excellent to substitute this for oatmeal for cereal. We eat it almost daily.

I love to make my oatmeal in the rice cooker that I found for $4 at goodwill. I always stretch it by adding raisins or diced prunes, cinnamon and vanilla. I make the whole six cups by putting two cups of oats and four cups of water/milk milk mixture. I push the cook button and when the machine turns from cook to warm, I leave it sit for another thirty minutes and I have soft oats with a fabulous flavor!
