Alternative Dye for Projects

Removing dye from a marker to add to a body scrub.
While looking on Pinterest, I find cool bath bomb recipes, body scrub recipes, etc. They all had something in common, they required some kind of dye. Either soap dye or food coloring. I didn't have any of that, and so I thought of what I could use instead. I came up with the idea of cutting open a marker and using the ink out of that!

Cutting a yellow marker in halfWhile looking on Pinterest, I find cool bath bomb recipes, body scrub recipes, etc. They all had something in common, they required some kind of dye. Either soap dye or food coloring. I didn't have any of that, and so I thought of what I could use instead. I came up with the idea of cutting open a marker and using the ink out of that! And it worked:)

Of course some might be like: isn't that bad for you, you know all those chemicals? Well guess what, I happened to have non-toxic markers so I figured it was perfect!

The picture is of a scrub I colored with this technique. Check out my posts for the recipe to the scrub, I have multiple you can try ;)

That's interesting. Did you use a washable marker or is it a permanent one? I would probably skip coloring the scrub myself just to keep it more natural. I'd be afraid that a darker color would stay on the skin.

I've seen recipes that make alcohol ink with the centers of markers. I've always wanted to try that. Alcohol ink is a lot of fun but is really expensive.

Hey Jess great question! I used a washable one but I have previously used others that weren't washable. I found that they all didn't stain my skin at all, including dark colors;)

That is true! I love all kinds of scrubs and stuff like that, but it just seems so much more nice when they are more natural. I believe I put one of my other scrubs on here. The lavender one, I absolutely love that one it's probably one of my favorites and it has no dyes;) I will say though alcohol ink sounds pretty interesting I'll check it out
