plate of Ampalaya GuisadoBitter gourd, bitter melon or most commonly called "ampalaya" in my country, is always compared to the heart broken. Most people are known to be bitter after a heartbreak. Ampalaya is the most bitter, but better than any other veggies because of its health benefits. This recipe is my favorite ampalaya dish.

Sounds great, thank you! Does anyone know where you can find bitter melon in the US, Midwestern area?

Where exactly are you located? It looks like there are a bunch of Asian food markets in St. Louis and other large cities in the Midwest. I also saw bitter melons online.

Another idea is to go to a higher end supermarket, like Whole Foods, and see if their produce department can order some for you.

I love bitter melon! It took me a few times of trying it before I liked it but now I crave the bitterness.
