Cut onions in halves crosswise. Put in greased casserole dish. Combine other ingredients and pour over onions. Bake at 350 degrees F, covered, for 1 hour. Nice compliment for pork roast, ham, and turkey. Baste during cooking.
Peel onions; cut a thin slice from tops, and slash cut surfaces of onions with a shallow x. Place onions in a 12 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish. Combine sugar and remaining ingredients, stirring until sugar dissolves; pour over onions.
Peel onions and cut into halves crosswise. Arrange in 7x11 inch glass dish. Pour honey over top. Dot with margarine. Microwave, loosely covered with waxed paper, on high for 8-10 minutes or until tender, basting with pan juices twice.
