Bleaching a Yellow Sweater White

I have an 80% acrylic sweater that is a light yellow color, but I want to make the sweater white. Would using bleach work or is it going to make the sweater worse? Because I'm afraid it may have patches of different shadings, ruining the sweater.

I have never done a bleaching to turn colored clothing white, but I can almost guarantee that it won't work. The end result will be as you stated, 'patches of different shadings'. If it is a sweater you really like, don't do it. If you're using it as an experiment, give it a try.
