I have a Kenmore 1703 sewing machine. I filled a bobbin and now the bobbin reset button will not stay pressed down. The machine will sew if I hold the reset button down. What's wrong with it please?

My guess is the bobbin is too full. Take some thread out and try again.
Scroll down to the bottom of this link and see if this helps...I had to replace this little rubber thing years ago...I think back then it was a quarter...of course that is when there were lots of Sear's stores and they had all the parts:
