Burning Sensation at Tongue Piercing Spot?

I have had my tongue pierced since I was 21. I took it out for a couple of months and just put it back in. I know it is going to be sore for a while, but how long does that usually last? And am I supposed to feel a small burn on the bottom of my tongue when the ball touches the base of my tongue?

It sounds like an infection. Remove the object and go to a doctor to get it checked out.

If you removed the piercing for several months and put it back in yourself this can happen. You have basically just pierced your tongue again.
