Catching Drips Under Drink Dispensers

We all hate those nasty drips from the water, lemonade, iced tea, punch, etc. dispensers that just grab that last drop and wait until the cup is moved away to let go of it. I have a wintertime plastic "boot tray" that usually lives on the porch in the winter for wet/muddy boots and shoes. It has a nice lip on it - maybe 2 inches deep - and is long enough to fit under several drink dispensers. Light bulb time!

I'm going to put a couple of old "car wash" towels inside the tray to absorb the drippies, and won't have to worry about mopping the multipurpose room floor after my son's Eagle Scout Court of Honor!

Around here we use a 2 liter bottle for those drips. Sorry I don't have a picture, perhaps someone else has one. But here is a guideline, and experiment for your particular dispenser.
Just remove the label and cut the top of the bottle off about an inch down from the threads for the lid. Then cut a hole to go over the spigot about 1-2 inches wide, down about an inch from where you cut before. Next you need to lower the front edge where someone will be putting their cup, making a swoop kind-of like an "s".

Leave at least 1 inch on either side of the hanging hole for sturdiness, and the front edge kind-of flat and about 4-5 inches wide for the cup and fingers. Leave the bottom 2-3 inches of the bottle for the liquid.
Now hang the plastic bottle over the spigot to be ready for the first user.

I have seen shallow trays with river rocks scattered across the bottom used beneath dispensers.
