This is a guide about the Eastern tent caterpillar. The sure sign that you have an infestation of tent caterpillars is their silky webbed nests covering your trees. While it can make for an interesting photo, the caterpillars are quite destructive and can easily eat all of the leaves off of your trees.

This shot makes me think of a tight rope walker at the circus. We always think they're either so brave or so silly, up there on that rope, but at least they have safety nets below them! This little critter just amazed me! Here he is, crawling along a thorny blackberry branch above what would, to him, be a massive drop off, with no saftey nets, no wires, no tricks.
I wonder, do those thorns hurt him the same way they sting me when I'm not careful? I'd love to be as brave as this caterpillar!

I found this lovely fuzzy caterpillar crawling up my front door one morning. I wonder what kind of a butterfly he will make someday. Love the colors!
