closeup of cooked beansThis is a type of chili. I had it last 4th of July at a neighborhood event and finally received the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. hamburger

  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can pork n beans
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (6 oz.) can water (use the paste can for measuring)
  • 2 tsp. mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder

Directions:

The lady that brought the cowboy beans sent me the ingredients with no instructions. I am assuming you mix it all in a slow cooker (recommend a low heat setting) and cook it till the kidney beans are soft.

These beans were delicious. I'm not a big bean eater, but I went to get seconds and the pot was empty. The beans were especially good with the dipping style corn chips.

We used to have these when we camped in the summer time. This recipe tells how to bake them in the oven, but we used to heat them over an open fire.

Just mix and heat through. Yummy with hot dogs or burgers from the grill.

A kid favorite! In 3 qt. saucepan, cook pasta sauce, beans and hot dogs over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until heated through.

Hearty just the way the men like them. Mix all together and bake 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees F. You may omit the chillies and hamburger for a great three bean bake, also.
