Craftsman LTD 1500 Keeps Dying?

I have a Craftsman LTD 1500 riding mower that dies while cutting as if you shut it off, but will crank right back up to repeat itself. What can I do to fix it? It is getting fuel; I checked.

If the mower is getting enough fuel and the fuel lines are not clogged then it has to do with the spark plugs and them being dirty and needing changing. I would also check the carburetor and make sure it is clean and not clogged. A little service on the mower is good and a good cleaning is needed to keep it running.

I changed the plug today, air filter, oil filter and gas filter is all good. I bought the mower from a friend who rarely used it but left it sitting up probably with gas without any stabilizer in it.

Just my thinking. I'm thinking it maybe the carb cause I'm still having the same issue???

If this is the case then flush out the carburetor and get it cleaned out really good. it sounds like the inside of the carburetor is dirty and needs some good cleaning to get all the gunk out of it.

A dirty filter can make a mower cut out, also check spark plugs, and lastly the carburetor may not be getting enough fuel!

Most likely it is bad gas and the more you crank it the more of the sludge will get into your carburetor so it may be best to try and remove the old gas before looking for something else.

You might try carburetor spray cleaner and starting fluid before tackling the 'real' cleaning of the carburetor. Both of these can be found at auto parts stores and hardware stores as will as other stores. These are to used individually and not necessarily together.

You may want to consider buying a new filter if this looks even the slightest bit dirty as filters should be changed often just like spark plugs.

If you end up having to remove your carburetor there are a lot of YouTube help videos.

Thanks, I have a new filter, new lines, and I drained the tank as well. Used the non Eth. gas. And still have the same issues. I haven't tried cleaning the Crab yet. I also done a new plug for the old one had a lot of black on it.

I was hoping it would have fixed it. But still the same. My gas flow is good. This has me grrrr. What else can I do?
