young girl wearing crochet hooded scarfThis will make it a little harder to misplace your winter gear. Hat and scarf all in one! :) If you can double crochet, than you can make this, no special skills required. This is one size fits most, child through adult. Stay warm!

Total Time: 2- 1/2 to 3 hours

Source: Saw a picture of this and this is what I ended up with.

  1. Ch 165. **If you want the "scarf ends" to be longer, ch more at this point**
  2. beginning chain for crochet hooded scarf
  3. 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook and each until end.
  4. make a double crochet in the chain stitches for the hooded scarf
  5. Ch 2, turn. 1 dc in next stitch and each until end.
  6. turn and make another row of double crochet for hooded scarf
  7. Repeat last step 14 times more, for a total of 16 rows. **If you want your hood to be wider, work another row or two at this point**
  8. measuring the width of the hooded scarf, more rows can be added to increase the width

  9. Weave in ends and fold scarf in half, ends meeting.
  10. fold scarf in half with ends meeting
  11. Join yarn with a sc, and work a total of 30 sc through both thicknesses. My "hood seam" is 9 1/2" long.
  12. work your hood seam by making single crochet stitches through both thicknesses
  13. See?

It looks like I missed something, it looks as though the instructions only included how to do the hood? I missed the scarf part

Wow! Common sense. And so easy, too. And here I am knitting watchmans hats for sailors, a charity project. They are wool or washable wool. I don't think they'd go for this scarf/hood though.

I'm searching for retired yarn workers to see if they want to part with their wool. It's so expensive.
