Using Panty Hose as a Dryer Vent?

Could I put a pair of panty hose on the back of the dryer to dry clothes since I don't have a vent pipe to dry clothes? Is it safe to do that?

Maybe I'm reading your question incorrectly. Do you mean use panty hose *instead* of a vent pipe to direct air from the dryer to the outside? No. Pantyhose melt very easily upon contact with heated surfaces.

I think you are suggesting using pantyhose as your dryer vent hose. I cannot see how this would work well. The panty hose would allow any moisture and lint to vent into the laundry room or into the walls, instead of outside. The added moisture could cause mold issues.

I can't see how you could attach the pantyhose through the walls anyhow as there is no way that one pair would be long enough. And venting without a pipe is a good way to get a house fire.

Vents are not very expensive, only about $10. I would invest in one for the safety of your home and family.

Good luck!

Panty hose dries really fast, Here are some great tips on drying Panty hose, you could lay out flat on a towel, you could roll your panty hose up in a towel (takes a little longer to dry), you can also make a clothes line for air drying . Try not to use direct heat (shrinkage will happen). www.wikihow.com/dry-pantyhose-in-a-hurry#

This is an easy fix:
Lay a thick towel on your dryer, lay panty hose on top (double over from foot)roll the towel over the hose and then slightly wring or press, wait about 10-15 minutes and then carefully unroll.

Your panty hose should be almost dry.
Hang towel to dry.

Sorry I jumped to conclusions and misread your question but I believe you have been given excellent advice.
I guess I'm still wondering why your dryer could not just use a regular dryer vent cover (or did not have one?) if it is on the outside.
I'm sure these covers are not very expensive and can be purchased online or most large stores.

I'm hoping your dryer does have a hose that extends outside as it is not a very good idea to vent a dryer indoors.

Not sure what you mean by the back of the dryer. You mean lay it against the metal? I would not do that. I would think that could get too hot and melt the stockings and potentially be dangerous.

I hang my panty hose off the bar in the shower and they dry over night.

If I need them in a hurry, I blot them good with a bath towel and then dry them with my blow dryer on the COLD setting (NEVER HOT) OR if it is a sunny day, I drape them over a plastic hanger and hang them outside in a shady spot (I have a shepherd hook where I do this) for about 15-20 minutes.

They sell inexpensive hookups to something that looks like a water filled container that could sit on a shelf or floor. The vent blows into this where the water catches the lint from going into the air also while warming your house.

I used this on my electric dryer for years. Im sure your local appliance store or ebay or amazon could help

When I was newly wed yrs ago we owned a set if apt or compact washer and dryer and as a matter of fact, the vent from behind the dryer the round circle part, I used a knee length panty hose as my catcher now each cycle I took it off and turned inside out over the trash to empty and repositioned it back on my circle. After so many uses I would replace the hose. Now another thing is to keep in mind my set was "compact" there for I did not have a normal size load so if you try the panty hose you need to allow for that.

Like possibly dry only 3 to 4 items per time.
This is kind of a tricky question as far as safety is concerned. I mean yes you can make the hose stay on and use it cautiously and I mean almost like stand on it. And then again for all the trouble you would be going to maybe invest in a compact washer dryer set or just go to walmart and purchase the vent tube and misc.
