Dye Transfer Turned Lace Gray in the Wash?

My mother-in-law washed my new black and cream dress and it's cream lace on top. The cream lace has turned gray and I don't know how. She swears she did everything right with washing it (clearly not). It's 87% nylon and 13% elastane. My mum told me not to bleach the cream lace as it will turn yellow. Is this so? or can I bleach it? i need this dress for next weekend so I really need the nasty gray gone. Please help.
