Dyeing Roots?

I just redyed my hair and touched up my roots. The formula from Sally's says leave on roots for 25-35 minutes. I left it on 20 and applied it to the rest of my hair to freshen it andn left it for another 10. The hair on my roots didn't take to the dye as well as the rest of my hair. Should I have left it on longer than the required time, and when can I redye the roots to match?

it is normally recommended that you don't dye your hair again for 6 weeks.

However, if you only want to dye your roots you will need to deep condition your hair two or three times before re dying your roots.
