Finding Replacement Seat Cushions for Garden Swing

The cushions on my old aluminum lawn swing are in need of replacing. Where would be the best place to find them? I have considered making my own or would it be cheaper just to buy another one?

Any home and garden center would have them. Bring a cushion with you so that you get the right size.

You can try your local home improvement store (Like Sears, Lowes, Home Depot) or Target/Walmart, sometimes even discount stores like Big Lots, Marshalls, Ross to see if they have any.

I know after Summer, at Target they go on clearance. :) You can definitely research online. You'll want to measure your seat cushions before going in. But, you could also replace seat cushions by opening the cushion and adding filling and re-do the seat fabric.

Aluminum? Are you maybe talking about an aluminum glider that maybe has 2 long cushions - 6 cushions?

  • Either way - buying new you are probably talking about spending up to $200 or maybe even more unless you wait until the end of summer for sales but then your choices would be very limited.
  • If you do some machine sewing then I would definitely say to make your own covers (at a fraction of that cost).
  • If the base pillows are sound then you should be able to make covers or have a seamstress make them for you. Suitable material can be found in stores like Michael's, Jo Ann's and any store that carries a wide range of materials. Just look for suitable outdoor material as it comes in different thicknesses and a wide variety of prints/colors. I think it will have to be 50" wide.
  • If your cushions are a simple style covers should be fairly easy but if they are boxed (or made like sofa cushions) then a recover job will be more difficult.

  • According to the condition of the old outside cover, you can make the decision to just cover over the original cover or remove it entirely.
  • You can even purchase new foam "cushions" to start from scratch if necessary.
  • The most savings would be realized if you were able to make these yourself. Here are a couple of sites to get you started thinking about going this route:

  • Or you can check out the different sites on Google:

  • If these do not appeal to you then maybe a pattern would be easier to use. I did find a few but these can also be found at the same store you buy materials.
