Taking care of yourself should be a priority regardless of your financial situation. When money is tight, you simply have to take advantage of as many budget friendly, healthy living options as you can find. Just for starters, you could pursue some of the following tips.

Eating healthy doesn't mean that everything you buy must be organic or come from a health food store. You can simply make some alterations in your eating habits such as reduce the amount of salt you use, go easy on or omit desserts, and replace unhealthy junk food with fruit, celery, carrots, or nuts. Junk food itself can be a budget breaker.

Take advantage of free or low cost health screenings and wellness checks. Hospitals and medical facilities often offer seminars on various topics that can help you with healthy living advice. Take advantage of this free method of acquiring information.

You don't have to spend money on a gym membership or expensive equipment to add exercise to your healthy living plan. Walking is an excellent form of exercise. You can walk alone and enjoy those moments of solitude, walk with a friend, as a family, or with your dog. If you prefer indoor exercise, libraries often have free exercise DVDs available or you can participate with an exercise program on television.

Stress is detrimental to your health. Find a form of stress relief that works for you and commit to seeking stress free moments everyday. Meditation might relieve stress for you. Gardening or some other hobby that you can engage in regularly can be a stress reliever. It has been proven that spending time with a pet lowers one's stress level.

A small budget does not excuse unhealthy living habits. Even the smallest steps toward adopting a healthy living lifestyle can be beneficial.

Timely:) My one New Years resolution was to get my life organized, including my health. I especially like the part where you remind us that we don't need expensive equipment or even a gym membership.

I've saved two each graduated sizes of milk jugs to fill with sand and use for free weights. We have the sand left over from a gardening project. I walk but need to be more serious about it-I wonder if I can get a couple of my neighbours interested in forming a walking group.
