Homemade Refried Beans

Once you have boiled your beans for 2 1/2 hours, use bacon grease, 1 Tbsp. for 2 cups of beans. To pour the bacon grease, let it warm up, then add your fresh boiled beans with their own juice. Simmer for 1/2 hour, making sure they don't dry up. Smash if you like. I like mine whole or partially smashed.

Good toppings include: chopped onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, and cilantro. You add just before serving. Enjoy!

Mmmm, this sounds really good, especially with the garnishes. Bacon grease will add great flavor. I like the beans partially smashed too. The stuff in cans just doesn't do it for me.
