Make sure there is nothing blocking it. We had a cutting board that was right in front of it. Once we moved it, the dispenser worked again.

Im not sure how to fix your detergent dispenser. I however would suggest an alternative. Just get the detergent pacs such as cascade, and put in the silverware basket.

i agree that you should purchase some of the dispenser paks that just drop in the dishwasher until you can get your dishwasher repaired.

• Although you say the spring is okay it is possible that something is sticking so that the cup will not open when dishwasher is running.
• There are several pretty good videos on YouTube about this problem so you are not alone with this happening.
• Google Hotpoint Dishwasher detergent door does not open and see if any of these can help you.

• There are several good videos on the Sears Repair shop site but you may be able to call your local Sears repair and ask them to help you. Sometimes they will do this over the phone but do not agree to a service call unless you really need it. Service calls are usually costly.
• Google Sears Service Center with your zip code and see if there is one in your area.
• Sears sells Hotpoint and it does not matter where your dishwasher was purchased.

It probably needs the impellors or filters cleaning.
