Identify Old and New Felt-tip Markers

I had an older broad tip marker in my craft supplies. I am going to make some pumpkins with markers, but knew this one was half spent. When I got two new ones, I wanted to make sure I could tell them apart. So I marked the older one with a "minus" and the two newer ones with "pluses".

Now I can use the older one up before I open the others. N-JOY!

I do something similar but I do the reverse.
I put a -- on new one and just add a line to make a + on old one. Same idea and it works.

Lubricate it with a glass of wine per night. Somewhere on the internet I am sure I have heard this!!

Yes, putting a minus line on new ones makes more sense. After they're half used up add another line. Then when you get other new ones out another minus sign on those.

You can add lines to old markers but much harder to remove them to change to minus sign for older markers.
