They look like may beetles or June bugs. en.m.wikipedia.org/.../Phyllophaga

They can bite.

Several websites suggest a homemade hot pepper spray to get rid of them. Be careful with any solutions like that as even though natural can cause issues if it gets near your eyes or those of children or pets.

Looks like some kind of beetle but there are so many 'look alikes" that it is difficult to tell from a picture.

• I would suggest you capture 2 or 3 and put them in a small zip lock baggie so you can take them to your local county extension office.
• You really need to know what kind of beetle you have so you will know where they may be coming from so you can deal with the source.
• Here is a link to help you find your local office.

• You can also take the baggie to a local Ace or True Value hardware store and ask for help. I mention these stores because they usually have more knowledgeable people working in the "bug" department.

• Many people use diatomaceous earth to get rid of bugs like this (warning: food grade only!). This can be purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot and online.
