It is a decorative piece. Several of my Asian students gave them to me as gifts.

If you want to know the price, then there is a free trial period.
The tassels have sticking black ceramic beads with gold accents.
"Fuchin is a weight put on the tip of a roller of kakejiku (hanging scroll). It is used to prevent swinging of kakejiku in a literal sense as well as 'to quell wind' and it has a strong sense of ornament. Tassels are put through a hollow ceramic, then those are put on both ends of the roller" www.japanese-wiki-corpus.org/.../Fuchin.html

This is a Japanese Fuchin Porcelain Weight Tassel and was originally used to add weight on each end of a hanging scroll to keep the scroll balanced and keep it still when the wind was blowing (houses were usually very open so fresh air could blow through the house).

If used in the original mode, there would always be two tassels so most likely your aunt did not know what this was either but just thought it was a pretty decoration.
Of course, you can always use the one as a hanging decoration.
As to value, it would be difficult to place a value on a single tassel.

I attach tassels to skeleton keys that I leave in the keyholes of my lockable china cabinets so if they fall to the floor we can find them and not sweep the keys away by mistake.
