Pitbull is not a defined breed. 4 most widely-known pitbull-type breeds - American pitbull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier, or American bully. Your dog looks like an American pitbull terrier, but dogs without a pitbull-type background are frequently mis-identified as pitbull-types, and vice versa, even by experts. This is why visual indicators simply arent very reliable. Therefore DNA testing will give you the most definitive answer. You can purchase a dog DNA test online, swab the inside of the dog's cheek, and send the sample back to the company.

This dog certainly has many characteristics of the pit bull type, such as high ears, big smile, crinkly cheeks, deep set eyes, broad head, and short one-layer coat. The only way to truly determine breed is via DNA testing, but if "pure bred" anything is what one hopes to hear, the results often are disappointing.

(In addition, pit bull actually is not a breed according to the UKC, but rather a mix of terrier and bulldog.) Enjoy this charming doggo!

The face looks like a mix of terrier and pit bull. The only way to know for sure is to have a DNA test done on the dog.

Your dog looks like an American pitbull terrier. But in the photo, the body of your dog is poorly visible. Also, you did not write how old your dog is and how much he/she weighs. Pitbull-type dogs usually look athletic and powerful, with broad shoulders and an angular physique, with a broad, wedge-shaped head, a thick neck, deep-set oval or almond-shaped eyes and high-set ears. But there are various pitbull-type dogs that often share some physical similarities.

Pitbull breeds vary greatly in size. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier usually weighs between 28 and 38 pounds, whereas the American Pitbull Terrier is between 35 and 65 pounds and the American Staffordshire Terrier is between 65 and 90 pounds.

From the photograph, it is a little tricky to determine the proportions of your dog's head. American Pitbull Terrier has a very proportionate head, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, on the other hand, are known for having very broad heads (according to the Pit Bull Info and Training website).
And, of course, DNA test will help to more accurately answer this question.

This could be a hard one to answer , without DNA. Your dog has both characteristics. There is a difference in the over all weight, height of the two.

Maybe your Vet can tell you without the DNA.
